Project overview

Emerging transcriptomic technologies like RNA-Seq enabled detailed investigations in the field of RNA synthesis and transcription initiation. In contrast, RNA processing and degradation, which are the opposite processes to transcript generation, are largely unknown in the industrially relevant bacterium Corynebacterium glutamicum.

The aim of this PhD project is to identify and characterize the factors involved in RNA stability and degradation in C. glutamicum to increase the knowledge base for further metabolic engineering.
