Project overview

Sustainable production of bioproducts with microalgae provides a variety of advantages compared to other feedstocks. The goal of this project is to establish the recently identified and highly promising oleaginous green microalga Monoraphidium neglectum as a production host.

Full genome and transcriptome analyses are performed to elucidate the genetic background responsible for the oleaginous phenotype. Tools for genetic engineering are concomitantly developed with the final goal to further improve the production yields by targeted genetic engineering.
