Research Interests

The group of Karen Hänel analyses structural and functional aspects of viral proteins, focusing on accessory and regulatory proteins. The goals are to solve protein structures and to characterise the interactions between host and viral proteins. For the latter, interactions are studied using structural, biophysical, biochemical and cell biology methods. The group also offers service research in cloning expression vectors and over expressing recombinant proteins.
