CLIB-Graduate Cluster funding extended

We are delighted to announce that the CLIB-GC will be further financed for another three years by the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Research of the German State of North Rhine-Westphalia (MIWF) as well as by the participating universities. The CLIB-Graduate Cluster Industrial Biotechnology was launched in 2009 by the University of Bielefeld, TU-Dortmund University, Heinrich-Heine-University of Düsseldorf and the Forschungszentrum Jülich.

The CLIB-GC is one of the largest structured doctoral programmes in Europe and a unique interdisciplinary training at the interface between academic and industrial research in biotechnology with a total funding of 12 million Euros for over 120 doctoral students. A special focus in the second period will lie on the role of biotechnology as a central and pioneering research area of the bioeconomy. The linkage with the international network "CLIB2021 - Cluster Industrial Biotechnology" provides excellent cooperation with enterprises of industrial biotechnology and offers graduates a strong and early connection to applied research in industry.

In the new funding period, a total of 36 fellowships will be offered in the programme. The application call will be open from 01 – 27 February, with projects starting in April 2013. We encourage graduates with a degree in biotechnology, bioinformatics, biology, chemisty, biochemistry or biochemical-/chemical engineering with a proven track record of academic excellence to apply.
